Mother's Day Cards

I made several Mother's Day cards using the same design (different colors).  This is a project that I CASE'd from Brandy Cox.  If you don't know what CASE means it means Copy And Share Everything.  This is one thing I love about Stampin' Up demonstrators, they are more than happy to show you a design or technique and have no problem with you basically copying it.  I would give them credit where it's due of course!  Anyways back to the post.  I used some of my new Stampin' Up products to make these cards.  Since they are pretty much the same I'm going to list out the steps for making this card.

I'm not sure of exact measurements but will try to be as close as possible.  

1. Pick out your color scheme.  For example, I used Melon Mambo and Coastal Cabana for one of the cards.  Now I do not have Stampin' Up cardstock yet so I chose paper that was similar in color.

2. Stamp a background using Flowering Flourishes stamp set.  I used the medium sized stamp for most cards.  When I finished stamping I used the smallest stamp to fill in where needed.  I stamped in Coastal Cabana.

3. Cut out your circles.  I have a Coluzzle stencil for circles.  I used three different sizes.  

4. Glue the circles together and then cut off a sliver of the circle to create a straight line to line up on your card.

5. Using the Best of Butterflies stamp set I used Melon Mambo and stamped one of the butterflies in the middle of the circle.  You can leave it like this or stamp in the other color and fussy cut the butterfly out (don't cut around the atennas).  Glue the body of the butterfly on top of eachother and fold the wings up.  This creates a 3-D look for the butterfly.

6. Attach the circle to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals for a little pop.

7. Finally add whatever sentiment you want to the card.  I used a Mother's Day stamp (not sure what brand it is).  I also stamped a flower on the inside of the card.

This card is extremely easy to make and can be changed in the simplest ways to make it different!

Latest cards

I've been working on designing cards for Girl Scouts to create.  They are going to help me assemble cards for Operation Write Home.  If you haven't heard of this organization look them up!  They collect handmade cards from around the country and send them overseas to our heros.  The heroes then use the cards to write home and they are able to mail the cards for free.  Another part of the organziation are the AnyHero cards.  These are notes or letters written to the heroes thanking them for their service and whatever else you might want to include.  Each box that is sent overseas has a baggie of AnyHero cards for them to read.  I think this a great way to get involved and get your community involved to give back to those who serve our country.
